City of Little Rock Green Program Press Conference

Getting Home Builders to use sustainable practices is the goal of a new program being rolled out by the City of Little Rock. Little Rock’s new Green Building Financial Incentive Program, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will be announced on Friday, April 16th at 2:00 p.m. The City of Little Rock has received $65,000 as part of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant from the United States Department of Energy.  This money will be used to fund rebates for energy certification fees for homes and businesses being built that are rated Energy Star or higher. Each building project is able to get up to $1,500.00 in rebates.

It is hoped that these rebates will provide an incentive for Home Builders to exceed the minimum code provisions and incorporate green building practices to improve energy efficiency, indoor air quality and resource use, while reducing the over-all environmental impact. The incentives will allow the City to track the number and the extent of the energy efficient buildings in the area.

The City of Little Rock is committed to a greener future. This incentive program is one of many efforts Little Rock is embracing in order to provide its residents useful tools to live and work in a sustainable manner.

Location: Woodlands Edge Subdivision (14007 Foxfield Lane)

Time: Friday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m.
